So tonight I was at the shop waiting for a customer to call me back to give me the go ahead on beginning of making keys for his car when I started playing with a Sentry 3 wheel safe. (Yes I know it's only a Sentry) I started by taking the wheel around about 10 times to the left and listening for drop in points. Then I went 10 times to the right listening to the same thing and averaged out where my numbers should be by the tolerances for a Sentry (Approximately +/- 5 numbers). I knew I had the right sequence in mind when I started getting a lot of drag and a loud clicking for the final turn to the right to unlock. I kept working the dial a little further to the left by about 2 numbers each time and then back to the right expanding by about 2 numbers each time in a back and forth motion. Eventually I got it to grab. All in all it took me about 25 minutes to open it, and I had no previous knowledge of any of the numbers of the combo. It was a pretty damn nice feeling even though it was just a Sentry.

Opening a safe blind regardless of the brand is still amazing. Damn fine work! Makes me want to give my POS safe a go at it.

we actually got 9 government safes that need to be opened, im going to have a penetration party at work in the next couple weeks... problem is i wont be manipulating them

I've worked on a couple government safes and I don't like it. I would love to own one because they are stout etc. but I hate working on them.

Cool, are they the X08/09 stuff or the red/black label file cabinets?? I have opened several of both, let me know if ya need any help.

the 9 im getting to play with are all 100lb single drawr file cainets, with various S&G locks on them. we have several other big file cabinets with X-0# on them that (once im proficient in drilling) i will open later.

Thank you. That was a year ago now and I have not given a serious try to manipulating any more safes. At my new job though we are taking old safes and practicing drilling and opening. I love learning new stuff and I love that the new job offers so much more.
