Cracked My Second Group 2 Safe Lock Today!

Only recently joined, so thought I'd share this with you:

:safedial: Cracked my second S&G 6700 today

Was way more of a pain than it should have been. 3 graphs of inconsistent readings, high/lows all over the place, then my contact points started moving depending on the direction I approached from :slam:

Eventually realised that the spline key was moving.

Changed it out and 5 hours later:

Man that feels good :slainte:

A loose spline key can be real hell. I wonder why there is no manipulation protection mechanism with a loose spline key. Great, that you got the lock open after fixing this.
In case you wonder ... Martin Hewitt is a fictional detective in stories by Arthur Morrison:

Re: Cracked My Second Group 2 Safe Lock Today!

Thanks!

Looking back at my pages of tests, I can see that the movement started out small, but it was there.

By the time I noticed what was happening my contact points were moving an entire increment between AWL and AWR.

But the amount varied if it was LLR LRR etc.

Lesson learned though

Congratulations! Feels good, we know. Even more if it was difficult and you did it anyway.

Cheers :)
