Keep/Safe 7100 wall safe - known combo wont open

Hello all

I have a Keep/Safe 7100 wall safe that will not open. I have the combination and have opened it within the past year, however, I can't open it anymore. This safe does not have a handle, after entering the last number of the 3 digit combo, you need to press the upper left hand corner to open the safe. The dial does seems a bit harder to turn than what I expected, but I have little to compare, so this might be normal. I was hoping someone might have some insight on why it won't open... Can anyone explain how pushing the upper left corner opens the safe ? Is there a diagram that would show the mechanism.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Mike

Correct... that is the steps I have been taking..... but the safe will not open.. I'm trying to understand the mechanism to help troubleshoot. Without a handle, I don't understand how pushing on the upper corner, is supposed to open the safe...

Anyone have a diagram of the internals ? or ideas on why it won't open

Thanks

Actually I don't know too. Maybe the bolt work is under tension, which is released, when the corner is pushed in, or there is a mechanism like that one in furniture doors, which pushes the door outward. IMHO the bolt work should be retracted by the final turn of the dial to the right. If you have two numbers you can try 3rd time to the right, 2nd time to the left, right to stop. If you have three numbers than either discard the last number or dial 4th to left, 3rd to right, 2nd to left, right to stop. After the stop then the push in the corner.
