According to the instructions, which are for all 8077 variants, the key hole is closed before the lock is opened again. The key hole cover mechanism might be the reason why the 0 must be dialed.

Thank you so much guys I had to play with the screw it was a little touchy and I change the combo and turn the screw and it worked again thanks and I added the 0 at the end so that's it . Back to my Yale safe lock

Yes, dialing back to zero allows the key hole cover to be closed. But, if you look toward the end of Squelchtone's video you linked, he was able to open the shackle without closing the door. In fact, he left the door open when he replaced the back cover. Very interesting. Some do, and some don't, apparently.

But his lock was no inspected by Wilma.

Maybe an 8077 and an 8077A allows it and the later ones not. There must be for sure some differences between these versions and I don't know any besides the dial color.

Squelchtone's and Al's are both the 8077AB version. Squelchtone's does, but Al's doesn't. :crazy: That's what is making this so interesting.

What is the date on yours, Al?
