Re: Help S&G 8077
Have you tried to set it to the default combination of 4L25 R0?

Do you push the lock into the cover, so that it is very clear where the indexes are pointing to?
Have you tried to set the default combination and then test 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, ...?

This is a REALLY GOOD IDEA! Definitely try this.
By the way, you do dial back to zero when setting the combination for an 8077. I forgot, and thought we were dealing with an 8088, in which case the instructions do not say to dial back to zero. In either case, I'm not sure what difference it should make, unless something in the design of the 8077 makes it necessary.
L4R3L2 wrote:O.K. So, I just confirmed you do NOT have to dial back to zero to set the combination. BUT, you DO have to have the dial at zero to close the changing door. So, dial the zero any way, just like they say to do.
Now, are you ready for this? (You're not going to like it!) You HAVE TO HAVE THE CHANGING DOOR CLOSED FOR THE SHACKLE TO OPEN! You're on your own once you close that door, but you'll never be able to open the lock if you don't close the door. Once the door is closed, all bets are off if your combination does not work! That is why they ask that you redial the new combination to the changing index a second time and see that the key will reinsert all the way through the wheels (but don't turn it), confirming your combination was set correctly, before closing the door. Kind of like when you set a new password you have to enter it twice to verify you didn't make an error. Good luck!
