Wheels on safes

Have you ever tried to push a safe on wheels into a nook, or between book cases? Into a closet? The wheels work against you! Why do they put the wheels across, left and right, instead of fore and aft like on a refrigerator? What the heck were they thinking?!

Now, if I could only get that tune out of my head...
About the wheels, think about it, just as the sideways wheels cause you grief when you try to move a safe they will also create the same grief for the nefarious character who is trying to steal it. An even better deterrent is to own safes that are in excess of 2000 lbs that don't want to roll at all, an addiction I seem to have.
But not all safes have the wheels sideways. Victor cannonballs have the wheels front to back. I will treat you to a rare view that I bet you will never see again in your life. I hope to never see it again as it was purely a hazardous mishap during loading. It did prove to be a great transport position though.
Fortunately, the mishap didn't effect the final results.

It is time... stand up for a constitutional America. Without it, we have shed blood in vain.

That safe sure has an ugly duckling story. Beautiful.
