Problem with parking and picking up wheels

Since I'm horrable at understanding what I read. This is a problem I could use help with. this is a example only say I park w1 @ 32 and (w3 @ 57 known gate ) how do I go back and test w2. What I would do is park 2 at 0 so I can go back and pick it up and start at 2.5. How do I get back to wheel 2 to do so..Once I learn that I can use it so many different ways.
If this does not make since I will reword it untill it does.I have read so much and i just cant seem to find the answer.. or its right in my face and just don't get it.

Do you have an open lock where you can see what's happening?

You should always note also a rotation direction and not only a position.
In case you wonder ... Martin Hewitt is a fictional detective in stories by Arthur Morrison:

Re: Problem with parking and picking up wheels

what you would do is park w1 at your known/suspected gate, dial w2 incrementally, and then dial w3 to your known/suspected gate each time. Martin is right, you'll be helping yourself quite a bit to have an open lock so you can watch how the wheels turn. w3 turns w2, w2 turns w1, so you can't turn 2 without turning 3, and you can't turn 1 without turning both 3 and 2.

So when we say we're parking w3 and doing something else with either or both of the other wheels, we're actually dialing the other two then dialing 3 back to its park position. Parking w1 can be done and left there while the other two wheels are manipulated. Parking w2 could go either way, depending on whether w1 is parked or not... if you're incrementing w1 and parking w2, the you'll have to dial w2 back to it's park position each time you change w1, however if you have w1 also parked, then w2 can be parked and left there while you work only on w3.

make sense?

WOW just like reading, i do have some locks and sat. i should be getting my s&g 6730 by mail. I use a mirror to watch the wheels. watching them backwards is just like reading with ADHD. Most of my locks are put back together by me after i salvage them. Thanks guys You two are always giving great advice and helping when you can again thank you.....
