Hi all. I was just wondering if anyone can give me any information on this lock I picked up on ebay. Its stamped 177-39. (age or anything you can tell me would be great)
I will mount it up for spinning practice at the weekend, where can you buy change keys.?

There are a few different versions of the 177 lock, I think they were made in the 70s and 80s. Standard group 2 lock. Change keys are likely ebay only and they aren't cheap. You could also buy one of those change key sets that has several keys on it, I think they have one for those locks.

Build one? Maybe based on a S&G change key?

S&G change key works in my 177-23, tho I did have to smooth it a bit with some sandpaper. The only difference I can see with your model is the re-locker, which mine doesn't have.

Is it just me, or is the change key hole on the wrong side of the lid?

Good eye Samurai, looks like the lock is set up for left hand install and the cover is for a right hand. My lock case has the little hole for the tip of change key on both sides, so I'm thinking by flopping the lever arm and spring this can work. Although I haven't had to do it. Or you could move the change hole.?
Maybe it will work the way it is? I would get a key and try before moving.

In this post I have photos of 3 locks, 2 right and 1 left.

Thanks guys, I noticed the change key isn't in the usual place. I noticed it doesn't have a change mark on the dial.
When I get the chance for another look I will see if there's a hole in the lock body for a change key to sit in.

Dial and change index are the same. Only one Mark.
Femurat and Bitbuster walked me through my combo change. Their directions are in the old post as well.

Its been a long day, and Im staring at the pictures again, It looks like the wrong lid (handed wrong), or has the first beer of a long day muddled my brain.

Left and right hand locks. The Kromer locks also have two hole for the change key tips. Maybe it is the cover from a different handed lock?

I think your right,I mean left (only joking). Yes looks like the wrong lid.

Once I get the change key, I will see if the lid can be put on the wrong way in, with the change hole mirrored (countersunk facing in) just to change the combo, then put on the right way in once its set.

I suspect you can just screw the lid on upside-down and the change key hole should line up fine.

Thats the Diebold mounted onto 10mm thick angle. All I need now is some peace and quiet. (fat chance).
