I have noticed that there is a series of Master Lock ring dial (<-- sorry for that lame terminology) combination locks, that have multiple fixed combinations:
http://www.masterlock.com/pdf/cms/7000- ... atalog.pdf, page 11:

Series Models: 1630, 1631, 1636MKADA, 1637MKADA
...
...
Architectural specifications: ... Locks shall have five (5) preset combinations. ...

I wonder how these work. I can imagine multiple dents (<-- sorry for that lame terminology) in the internal rings. But five, being prime number, it would mean, there would have to bee five notches in a single ring (?). E.g. eight combinations would be easier - two dents per every one of the three rings. But I guess I have totally wrong ideas about internal working of those locks.

And, there is related feature, so called "Charting": ... Locks shall be supplied with printed Control Chart of serial numbers and combinations and text file on disc. ... - I think I have seen this also in relation with classic 1500 / 1525 series, then I wonder, if it's possible that these also might have multiple preset combinations.
