Questions about combo changes

So since successfully manipulating my first safe lock, I can't wait to try another, this seems to be the same addiction I am caught in with lock picking! Haha so anyways will a combo change change how a lock reads on a graph? And be like doing a different lock of the same make/model? Or will it still show the same contours just in different places? I seem to think it will show up the same just with the numbers shifted since the wheels are still the same, I plan on buying a group two safe lock and mounting it for manipulation practice, unfortunately I can't really afford to keep buying safe locks as I do with pad locks and such haha

Re: Questions about combo changes

Welcome to the club :)

The new graph after you change the combo will be different. As you already said, the wheels are the same but, being rotated at different relative angles, the low and high areas will create a different outline. I like to change the lock combo and play with it again and it's very satisfying.
If you really want to get a different experience you can try to change the wheels order. But unfortunately, if the lever is slightly bent, the order the numbers appear won't be affected.

Good luck :)

Re: Questions about combo changes

Thanks that answers my question, am gonna look into getting a LaGard 3330 or something similar and gonna mount it on a small stand just for manipulation practice, could you point me in a direction where to get one for the best price and what I should expect to pay for the lock and the dial and ring?

Re: Questions about combo changes

I'd make a post in the BST area of the forum asking for one. There may be someone with a lock laying around. If you're member of another lock forum make the post there too.

Another good option would be ebay. Sometimes I see a nice used combo lock at 50 USD.
Don't waste money on a cutaway, you don't need it.

Good luck :)

Re: Questions about combo changes

Yes, absolutely. That's one of the things I love about them;
each new combination brings about a slightly different journey.

You'll definitely get your money's worth out of one lock :yep:
