Cole file cabinet with safe
Try again, slow down dialing speed. Look into the peep hole on back, slowly turn your dial Left (Counter Clock-wise) minimum of four full rotation. If you don't see your gate pass under the fence, you should keep spinning the dial until you find the gate. If the wheel you're watching is not moving.., lock may be broken, or you have not made enough rotations in the same direction. Let us know what you observe.
Re: Cole file cabinet with safe
Actually start right/clockwise. That is easier in the end. Latest when you made three full turns there should be movement visible.

I've done both left and right turns, slowly, for many rotations in each direction. Beginning to think the mechanism is broken, but I appreciate all the help that was offered!

In this case you will find your answer only when you remove the back cover of the door.

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe
Hello all!
I am new to this site so before I ask my question let me introduce myself. My name is Zack and I have a cole steel company safe. I got it from a habitat for humanity restore that I used to work at. When I got it the safe door was open and I was able to figure out the combination. Since then (about 3 years ago) I have lost the combination and have been trying for a few days to open it. Inside it are a few savings bonds given to me as a kid and I think a watch which I would like to get out (and just have to combination so I can use the safe).
If anyone on this forum can help me decode the 6 digit number that is on the inside of the middle drawer that would be greatly appreciated.
The number is n100853
Again thank you in advance to anyone that can help.

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe
I just stumbled across this site tonight and signed up so I could get some info on a Cole steel safe that’s at my work. I’m a cop and the safe has been locked without the combo since the 90s. I can see there is some things in the safe from the peep holes on the side and I need to get those things out. If someone could please help me with figuring out how to decipher the numbers on the back of the safe I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Cole file cabinet with safe
Hello all. My name is Wayne and I'm new to the forum. The place that I work was recently given 2 of the Cole cabinets that have the locking "safe" in them. They came with door keys but both safes were locked. Fortunately 1 of them was locked with the door open. I was able to find information in this thread on how to figure out the combination. Many thanks to everyone who shared the info on that. The other one, however, is locked closed. It's serial number is N-255897 and it has a 3" dial. Can anyone please help me with finding the combination for this cabinet?
Re: Cole file cabinet with safe
One more please. I have a Cole Steel cabinet with a 3" dial. Number found is N855291. I don't think there is anything in the cabinet (no rattles when tilted), but I would like to open it and be able to use it. Help with the combination would be much appreciated.

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe
I think going forward on this thread new posters should understand this isn't a 1 post help thread. Most don't even say thank you. If you need a safe opening call a local locksmith. If you are a member of the forum with multiple posts to your name you will get more of a response. This site is a hobby pickers site not a help guide on how to open your particular lock without any proof that you even own it. We help hobby pickers to pick locks not in use for them to progress their hobby. We're not about doing locksmiths or box openers out of a job.
Just my 2cents.

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a home in Michigan, and in the basement there is a Cole filing cabinet with a locked safe inside. Unfortunately no sign of the combination anywhere, but as all of the others looking for answers here, I do have the serial number.
The safe looks exactly like this one, that was posted by another user a few years ago: https://imgshare.io/image/img-9286.NRbsfP
If you guys prefer that I just contact a locksmith, I totally understand. But if anyone takes the time out of their day to help me via private message, I very much appreciate it!
Thank you very much,
Mike

Re: Cole file cabinet with safe
You have the 6 digit number from behind the drawer but failed to include it in your post.
